  Forced to commit adultery, how?

  i read somewhere that the wt holds that a person who refuses to have sex with the spouse is somehow "forcing" the spouse to commit adultery.

  i consider this ridiculous, but, in the interest of learning more, may someone explain this to me?.

  would the spouse thus "forced" be disfellowshipped?

  ok dgp I get what you mean. Now that is different. That is a case of people minding other people's business. The WTS loves to get in the bedroom of married folks. If a witness wife is looking to get sympathy from the elders and they are idiots they may counsel her to keep rendering her husband his due, even in this type of situation. If she doesn't have enough will to stand on her own and leave (regardless of the cost ) she'll be trapped for sure. But there was info many years back that you could separate (with the WTS' approval) if you were being physically abused.

  Exactly what I'm talking about PalmTree. An unloving mate can be a person's worst nightmare. So in part they contributed to the adultery by making it difficult for the spouse to stay faithful. So while no one can "force" another to commit adultery there obviously can be mitigating circumstances that contribute to the issue.

  Not forced in the true definition of the word. If you refuse your mate sex often enough you could be at least in part responsible for them seeking sexual gratification outside the marriage. Each case would be different I suppose, but I would think reasonable elders would take into account the situation before DFg someone in those circumstances. According to the bible each spouse should render the other their marital due so as not to put them in a bad situation.

  YHWH wouldn't have to make an exception, he has nothing to do with it. His name is just thrown around a lot.

  my mother, like all the dubs, excels at dropping casual sentences here and there designed to suck me back into the borg.... her latest subtle (not) attempt to use my father's death as the drawing card was to send an sms saying only: "death is so unnatural".. of course i remember all those public talks, so i know exactly where she's coming from: we were made to live forever so no wonder death is so painful for us to deal with.. but honestly, what planet are they on????

  Hey Wavvy - I was thinking about this at a JW funeral a couple of weeks ago. Death is as natural as birth. It's called the life cycle. You're right people use the emotions involved with death to try to control us. I agree with you guys 100%. Because it's so painful we try to make sense out of it and seek an explanation to ease the pain. I think that's natural too. Out of the billions of people who have come and gone, no one has figured it out yet.

  Hey doublelife - no need to be sorry. we're all here for each other. It's really strange how they never call to see how you're doing as a person isn't it? I will never understand that. field service 101 is to take a personal interest in the householder, right? but they lose all manners when dealing with someone who stops associating. It really is about them proving or validating what they are doing. If you stop going it makes them question their decision to stay on some level. So if they get you to return they can breath a sigh of relief...........know what I mean? Hang in there.

  Happy B-day Zaddok

  Our school years were so stressful. Having to stick out like a sore thumb amongst the other kids and teachers was a horrendous experience. And then having to smile about it and pretend that it was o.k.

  Booby is right - As a good witness youth, you have nothing. No personality, career, hobbies, friends of your own choosing. You are a prisoner in your parents home and the congregation. Everyone watching you to see if you'll "make the truth your own" and once you do, don't you dare mess up! You are so absolutely trying to figure out a way to get some space to breath that you can hardly see straight. Sadly, the only approved route for most young JWs is marriage.

  By the time a lot of born ins marry they are so sexually repressed that sex is the last thing on their minds. I know so many JW couples who "went to the elders" after their weddings b/c they were so guilt-ridden for having engaged in uncleanness!!! Not even fornication, just having touched their gf/bf while dating. They thought b/c they were having sexual problems that that was the reason......so so sad. It never occurs to them that the problems stem from a lifetime of being told how bad and dirty sex is for you. Your sexuality has been taken from you and put on display for Jehovah, Satan, your parents and the congregation to scrutinize........sickos! How can a man/woman bond sexually under that type of repression?

  Those masturbation chapters in the YPA book were absolutely ridiculous. The simplistic views on dating and marriage were even worse. But of course it's only after you have married and struggled for a while that you hopefully get a clue and can start to take back (good point flipper) some type of healthy sexuality for yourself.

  Terry's Amazing Stories

  am i the only one who think's a lot of the amazing stories terry come up with are fabricated or completely untrue?

  every week he tells us how he by chance ran into a jw, mormon, evangilcial, etc.

  and comes up with witty answers every time to counter every point they make and than have them running in fear.

  Hey - I like Terry.

  Besides he works in a bookstore (religious at that) so that would afford him many opportunities for discussions about religion. DUH! Nothing amazing about that. It's not difficult having discussions about religion. You know that saying "there are two things you don't talk about?.....religion and politics." Well nothing's further from the truth. People LOVE talking about religion and politics and sharing their views.

  Why are jw children so parent depended?

  i have seen many jw teens who can't behave properly in the outside world or won't go out alone unless they give detailed report to their families.in addition,they give the impression that they can't be on their own unless dad or mom is near them.correct me if i'm wrong but that's what i think.....

  OMG ! good thread XPETERX, got to echoe you guys' thoughts on this.

  Me and my sibs talk about this a lot. How behind emotionally we felt in our twenties. I married at 25 and went to Bethel and the older ones there always called the under 45 group (married or not) "kids". I was 19 in the congregation and "the friends" went ballistic (sp?) when I started calling them by their first names.

  In "the world" when you hit 18 you are treated like an adult. You make adult decisions about education, living arrangements, jobs etc. The whole goal of the witnesses is to keep you in a childlike state so that you don't expose them for their immaturity and power trippin'. It's all about control. I recently told my dad that the witnesses act like children and he was so offended. Well it's true!

  Shopaholic: "Sometimes I wish I'd known that I was an adult when I became an adult...probably would have left a lot sooner." ----tell me about it!

  I know for sure if I had confidence in my young adulthood I would have been outta there sooner. My parents never ceased to come up with ways to let us know that we were "not grown" and if we were to strike out on our own we were "gonna bump our heads"................some parenting huh?
